Portsmouth & District Winter League

Ladies Division 4 – Avenue 4 lost to Southsea (0-4) – Mary Robinson, Megan Gibbs, Delyth Jones, Linda Wainwright

Match report

A crisp Winter morning and the 4 went to receive Southsea on our home turf. Have to say the clay courts were very playable in spite of the frost. It turned out to be a beautiful day with the sun shining and dazzling the players with little wind. We faced a youthful team with their experienced captain and strongest player. Only trouble with playing people in their 20’s is they could retrieve all our tactical lobs. It was those tie breaks! Mary and Linda lost two 7 pointers and Delyth and Megan two 10 pointers. Well done to Megan and Delyth for winning two sets. Mary Robinson

East Hants Winter League

Mens Division 1 – Avenue A beat Medstead A (6-2) – Joe Hopkins, David Parvinmehr, Lloyd Sampson, James Leonard

Ladies Division 2 – Avenue beat Newman Collard (5-3) – Denise Simper, Sarah Long, Caron Howe, Dawn Wears

Match report

Another good win for us against Newman Collard, 5/3 in sets and 41/31 in games. My committed team (Caron/Dawn and Denise/Sarah) played in a couple of showers and as always were so pleased to get a win. Jenny Ward
