Ladies Division 4 – Avenue 4 winning draw v Chichester 3 (2-2) – Jess Paige, Katherine Arnold, Mary Robinson, Linda Barber

Match report

On a day in which England were embroiled in a thrilling finale in the Fifth Test at The Oval, our ladies were digging deep over at Chichester and trying to secure some much-needed points. Making her debut for Avenue 4 was Jess Paige, who was partnered with Katherine Arnold. They were a formidable duo as our 2nd pair, and both channelled their inner Iga Swiatek to deliver a stunning double bagel against the home 1st pair. In their second rubber, they conceded only three games, winning 6-2,6-1. Convincing wins, and they later admitted that their match preparation was to consume plenty of wine the night before! Linda & Mary must have wished they’d indulged in more Shiraz to give them extra pizzazz as they battled in their first rubber for two hours, before losing 6-4,6-4. Fortunately in their second rubber against Chichester’s 1st pair, they clinched that all important set, before losing 10-6 in the championship tie-break, to give us a well-deserved winning draw. Mens Division 2 – Avenue 3 winning draw v CourtX 4 (2-2) – Matt Hotchkiss, Adam Tolmie, Joe Hopkins, David Parvinmehr

Match report

A first winning draw for Avenue 3 in Division 2. In what is a very close league we gave ourselves hope of survival. Both pairs comfortably beat their second pair but two close losses to their first pair prevented a further point. Well played all! Matt Hotchkiss

Ladies Masters Division 2– Avenue 2 beat Lee (3-1) – Alison Clarke, Denise Simper, Becky Howarth, Linda Wainwright

A fantastic win today over old rivals Lee – 3-1 in rubbers, 6-3 in sets and 41-32 in games. 2 new pairings, Alison & Denise and Becky & Linda W played extremely well against a strong Lee team

Mixed Masters Division 1 – Avenue 1 winning draw v Chichester 1 (2-2) – Liz Lim, Phil Tusler, Jenny Smith, Peter Campbell

Ladies Division 2 – Avenue beat Winchester B (4-0) – Anna Newman, Emma Boucher, Jenny Smith, Gill Clarke

Match report

A sunny day on the grass saw the ladies 1st’s penultimate game end in a resounding win for us against Winchester. Jenny and Gill only dropped 3 games in 2 rubbers. We had to counteract a lady that could only serve underarm which was a bit tricky at first but we all got used to it pretty quickly. Well done ladies on a great result. Anna Newman
