Ladies Division 2 – Avenue 2 beat Fishbourne 1 (4-0) – Heather Halliday, Leane Stevenson, Helen Weekes, Sian Prior

Match report

A fabulous 4-0 win for the Avenue. This match was played in lovely weather although the sun was “blinding” and posed a bit of a problem for all players. Close matches with lots of rallies so score line didn’t really reflect just how close all games were on the day. Played in good spirits and Avenue dug deep with sheer grit and determination to win all rubbers. Well done to all players. Heather Halliday

Ladies Division 2 – Avenue 3 losing draw v Warsash 2 (2-2) – Anne Treagust, Katherine Arnold, Ruth Berry, Louise Charlton

Match report

On a glorious sunny November morning, our Ladies 3 hosted our old foes Warsash. We had 3 new players making their debut, Ruth, Katherine and Louise. Ruth and Louise got off to a great start winning their first rubber together. They won the first set 6-3, narrowly losing the second set in a tie break 6-7 which took the rubber into a championship tie break. With great support from the balcony  Ruth and Louise ran away with the tie break winning it convincingly 10-1. Unfortunately Anne and Katherine couldn’t get past their first pair despite putting up a great battle losing 3-6, 4-6. Still all to play for in the second round of matches. Ruth and Louise kept up their winning mentally winning the first set 6-0 and this continued to win the second 7-5. Knowing that we were 2-1 up in rubbers it came down to the last rubber but Warsash second pair had picked up their momentum and Anne and Katherine found it hard going losing 3-6, 3-6. Still a great battle all round with the match total score in games 39/39, Warsash just getting the winning draw on an additional set. Great match ladies and very well done to our new players. Mens Division 2 – Avenue 2 beat CourtX 3 (4-0) – Lloyd Sampson, Ross MacPherson, Mike Robinson, Matt Lee

Match report

Fresh from celebrating Lloyd’s 30th birthday the night before (HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!) Men’s 2s kicked straight into gear and played some great tennis easing past a competitive Court X team. The hosts kept us honest with some strong stroke play and put on a generous spread for match tea. “Shot of the Season” nomination goes to Ross, who hit the most outrageous half volley pickup clean winner drop shot I have ever seen. Mixed Division 3 – Avenue 3 losing draw v Fishbourne (2-2) – Paul Whittenham, Becky Howarth, Anne Treagust, David Parvinmehr

Match report

A tough but very enjoyable match against a Fishbourne side with a very strong first pair and a solid second pairing. Played in great spirits and a very welcome after-match tea enjoyed by all of us. 7 points from our opening 3 fixtures is a very good start to the season. Paul Whittenham

Losing draw against Swanmore today. Close match on very bouncy hard courts, which they use to their advantage. Helen Weekes

Mens Division 1 – Avenue A lost to Headley A (2-6) – Joe Hopkins, Lloyd Sampson, Adam Tolmie, Andy Gilliiatt
