Mixed Division 4 – Avenue 4 drew with Warsash 3 (2-2) – Stuart Newman, Katherine Arnold, Stew Wiles, Mary Robinson

Match report

A strange new world greeted us on Saturday – one where the rain stopped, the wind died, the sun shone brightly and yes, finally, Pompey would go on to bag a home win. But the events at Fratton Park were a mere sideshow. The real sporting news of the day was that Avenue mixed 4 secured their first points of the winter in a dead tie away to Warsash 3. Thanks go to Stew Wiles who stepped in to cover illness at short notice and while he and Mary couldn’t quite get over the line against their second pair they did win a crucial set. Meanwhile Katherine and Stu Newman won both their rubbers including the all-important tiebreak against their first pair. The teams couldn’t be separated on countback and so took home 1.5 points each. Well done everybody. Adrian Drummond

Ladies Masters Division 1 – Avenue 1 beat Swanmore 1 (3-1) – Jenny Smith, Anna Newman, Leane Stevenson, Debbie Berry

Match report

Although the match was played under the grey sky with the constant threat of rain, the final result was a 3-1 victory for the Avenue. This was an excellent  win against a strong team from Swanmore who were currently sitting at the top of the league table. All matches were fiercely contested – well done to all players. Heather Halliday

Ladies Masters Division 2 – Avenue 2 winning draw v Fishbourne (2-2) – Anne Treagust, Becky Howarth, Caron Howe, Dawn Wears

Match report

Avenue B went to Denmead in an East Hants league match and were well beaten by a strong Denmead team. We lost by 6 sets to 2 sets. Well played Ant and Bailey for winning our two sets. Stew Wiles
