Portsmouth & District Winter League

Ladies Division 1 – Avenue 1 beat Lee 2 (4-0) – Emma Boucher, Debbie Berry, Jenny Smith, Gill Clarke

Match report

Our first match after our Christmas break was a sunny but windy game against Lee 2. Our ladies played like they’d never been away and won with a resounding 4-0 49-15 win. Well played all. Anna Newman

Ladies Division 2 – Avenue 3 losing draw v CourtX 1 (2-2) – Becky Howarth, Alison Clarke, Louise Charlton, Nicolette Lock

Match report

Despite the forecast of 40mph winds Nicolette, Louise, Alison and Becky travelled down to Southsea for the Ladies 3 match against CourtX 1. The first rubbers saw two very closely fought matches and at the halfway point were level at one win each.  In the second rubbers Alison and Becky sadly couldn’t get passed the very strong CourtX first pair but Nicolette & Louise dug in and after a long match managed to win their game giving us a losing draw and a very valuable point. Ladies Division 4 – Ladies 4 drew with Denmead (1-1) – Linda Barber, Michele Voysey, Ali Thompson, Megan Gibbs

Match report

A rain lashed park was the venue for a hotly anticipated south coast derby which ultimately ended up 1-1 with nothing to divide the two teams & an equal share of the spoils. No, this wasn’t Pompey v Southampton, but Avenue4 away to Denmead. As you can see we didn’t finish the play for this match as the weather closed in on us.  Both teams agreed that the weather radar projected continued disruption to the afternoon and so after some pause in play we took the decision to stop. Friendly rivalry, lovely cake, shame about the rain! Linda Barber

Mens Division 4 – Avenue 3 beat Ryde Lawn 3 (3-1) – Matt Hotchkiss, Adam Tolmie, Andy Gilliatt, Joe Hopkins

Mixed Division 2 – Avenue 2 beat CourtX (3-1) – Vicki White, Lloyd Sampson, Sarah Long, Ross Macpherson

Mens Masters Division 2 – Avenue 2 beat Warsash 2 (4-0) – Rob Mort, Adrian Drummond. Ant Spencer, Matt Bennett

East Hants League

Ladies Division 2 – Avenue beat Steep B (7-1) – Caron Howe, Denise Wears, Sarah Long, Katherine Arnold

Match report

Yet another good win 7 sets to 1 and 45 games to 24.  excellent play from Caron & Dawn and Katherine & Sarah. Jenny Ward
