Friday 27th February saw the final of the Avenue Racketball Handicap Competition. A good crowd of spectators were in attendance to witness two highly competitive finals.

First match was the plate final between Bob Rose and Ian Burton. Whilst the contest was vey competitive Ian had a ‘healthy’ handicap in his favour Ian (+9) & Bob (-3). (nicely organised Bob!) which meant Bob was always up against it and could not afford to make many errors. The match was won by Ian Burton 3-0.

The main final of the evening saw Alex Fuente matched against Ross Gosling. The handicap for this match was in the favour of Ross but only by 3 points. Alex (-15) & Ross (-12)   The points were long and very competitive. There was plenty of quality Racketball on display and plenty of sportsmanship exhibited by both players. Alex won the first 2 games and the time was up before the third game could be finished. This meant Alex Fuente is the Avenue 2026 Racketball Champion. Congratulations to Alex!

A special mention is also deserved for Bob Rose who organised the tournament which featured a total of 52 competitors battling over matches over the last 2 months. Bob also runs the highly popular Racketball Leagues, thank you Bob!
